How do I file an abuse report?
In order to ensure all reports of abuse are processed properly, please report any abuse in this manner:
  1. Open the user's profile that you are reporting for abuse.
  2. To the right of the username, click on the "Report user for abuse" link.
  3. Read the guidelines for abuse reporting.
  4. Use the textbox to explain the nature of the abuse.(i.e., single posing as couple, harassment, multiple account violator, etc.)
  5. Click the "Submit" button to send your report.
  6. We recommend that you also block this user by clicking the "Block User" icon along the top or bottom of the profile.
Please Note:
  1. All complaints will be researched and a determination will be made as to the accuracy of the information filed. If the complaint is found to be a valid one, a course of action will be taken at the webmasters discretion. Actions taken by the webmasters may include, but are not limited to, warnings, suspensions and even termination of memberships.
  2. When you file a complaint about another member, depending on the nature of the complaint, your account and actions may be under scrutiny as well to examine both sides of the story.
  3. If there is not enough information available to determine fault, then no action may be taken because we will always give people the benefit of the doubt.
  4. If the member filing the complaint is found to be equally at fault or have taken actions that led to the abuse, then the webmasters may take some form of action against the reporter as well, depending on circumstances.
  5. By entering a complaint, it in no way guarantees that anything can be done or will be done. However, even if nothing can be immediately done, it is important that you at least file your complaint because it may be part of a pattern of similar complaints filed on the same user.

How do I delete "Sent" or "Deleted" mail?
The messages in your "Sent" and "Deleted" mail links cannot be manually removed. "Sent" mail belongs to the user you sent it to and is subject to their handling of it. If they delete it, the system will automatically remove the message from the database when it is over 15 days old (from the day it was written). Otherwise, it will remain until it is 45 days old. The same applies to the mail in your own mailbox. Any mail you have deleted will be removed when it is 15 days old and the rest when it is 45 days old.

Why do I keep getting cookie errors?

When you get a cookie error message, it simply means that our servers could not verify that you were logged in. One of several things is happening;
1. You attempted to access the website without first logging in.
Please log into the site at the home page.
2. You do not have cookies enabled on your computer.
You MUST have cookies enabled to our site in order to use it.
3. You are accessing the web site through the link in the email notification message sent to your web-based free email site such as Hotmail or Yahoo.
Open a new browser window and go to the home page.
4. Your computer has stored the error message page and needs to be refreshed.
Refresh or Reload the page. This can be done with the button on your browser or with the "F5" key on your keyboard. This will force your computer to download the newest version of the page.

Why can`t I get the "Instant Message" icon to work?

The "Instant Message" icon in the profiles is connected to the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) username that members put in their questionnaire. In order for the link to work, both you and the member you are trying to contact through this link must have an aimname listed error-free and both you and the member must be currently logged onto your AIM program.

If you do not have AIM, but wish to try it, please click on "Download AIM" link in the side menu (it's free). A box will open and will ask you if you want to download "aim95.exe" from ftp.newaol.com. It will give you the option to OPEN the file or SAVE it to your computer? Choose OPEN.

Follow the instructions for downloading and installing AIM. Once you have downloaded AIM and have chosen your AIM name, you can add it to your profile by clicking "Change Profile" then "Edit Questions". Type in your AIM name (this question is at about 3/4 of the way down the page) and then save your change. AOL users: do NOT add "@aol.com" to your aimname because it will not work.

Remember: You AND the member you are trying to contact must have AIM open and running to send or receive chat requests.

Why can`t I see profiles when I am in the chat room?
The usual reason for this is a firewall or Internet security program setting that blocks ads or pop ups. If you have recently installed one of these type programs or adjusted the setting on an existing one, this may be the reason. (Norton, Zone Alarm and Ad Blocker are the usual suspects.)

The best way to tell is by temporarily disabling the program and accessing chat again.

Why is the distance in the profile sometimes inaccurate?
The mileage is based on a formula that computes distance in a straight line or "as the crow flies" between one zip code and the next. The actual location (in terms of latitude and longitude) of a zip code is the post office in that city or town.

So, when you are looking at another member`s profile, the distance between you and them is actually from your post office to their post office. If you live a couple of miles on the other side of your post office and they live a couple of miles on the other side of theirs, the distance is going to be off by several miles.

The reasons behind this are simplicity, cost and anonymity. For us to provide and compute an accurate distance, we would need to import a more complex database at a huge cost and you would need to provide us with an exact address for the computation. The current way gives you a reasonable idea of distance without having to let people know where you are until you are ready to do so.

What is the "On Friends" link in the side menu for?
"On Friends" is a list of members who have added you to their Friends list. You are not seeing anyone else's Friends list, just who's Friends list you are on. This is a great tool to see who may be interested in you.

Why is there mail missing from my Inbox?
Mail is removed on a basis of these terms only:

A) ...it is in your Inbox and is over 45 days old;
B) ...it is in your Deleted Mail and is over 15 days old;
C) ...it was administratively removed because its content was in violation of the
Terms of Service

  5. In the top section labeled "Stretch", change the percentage (%) in both the Horizontal and the Vertical to exactly the same number.
  6. Click the "OK" button.
  7. At the top of the program click "File" and select...
    • "Save", if you wish to overwrite the image you just resized and save it at the new size; or

How do I grant a member access to my private gallery?
Once you have established a private gallery, you will now see a new icon labeled "Grant Access" inside every profile you look at that will invite that member to view your private gallery. Clicking on the icon will send the member a link, add them to your approved list and allow them to see the private gallery button in your profile. No one will see that button until they are granted access.

How do we create a private gallery?
You must be a paid member to create or view a private gallery. All photos will be uploaded and deleted in the same manner regardless if they are public or private, through the "Edit Pictures" in the side menu or the "Upload/Edit Pictures" link on the "Change Profile" page. On the "Upload" tab, you will be given the option to mark the picture private. A private picture will not be shown in the "New Photos" gallery.

Please do this at least 3 days prior to your next billing date. The cancellation request will be processed within 48 hours. Your account will remain active until the date your next scheduled billing would have occurred

How are Gold Members arranged at the top of search pages?
Gold members are only moved to the top of the page that they would have fallen on naturally. You will NOT have to sift through all the Gold members on the site to see Standard members. Unless you live in an area that has a lot of Gold members, there should only be a small handful at the top of every page.

How do we block single males or single females from contacting us?
Click on the "Change Profile" link in the side menu and then select "Edit Questions". At the bottom, change your answer to the question "Will you meet single males?" or "Will you meet single females?" to "NO". Save your changes. This will block whichever one you answered "NO" to from contacting you. You can allow certain singles to contact you by adding them to your friends list.

How do we change our email notifications?
Click on the "Change Profile" and select "Automatic email notification" from the utility list. Choose the "Enable" or "Disable" link. It is recommended that you add "webmaster@swappernet.com" to your address book or contacts to ensure that you receive your messages without delay. If you do not receive your emails, please check these points:

Too restrictive spam filter
Check your spam filter or contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to see if the email was wrongly filtered. Some of the larger email providers (i.e., Hotmail, Yahoo, Verizon or AOL, etc.) use very restrictive spam filters which remove most of the automatically sent emails. If you use a spam filter that requires a manual confirmation by the sender, it will NOT work because it is an automatic process.

Wrong email address
Make sure you entered a working and correct email address. Incorrect email addresses are the main reason for non-delivery of email. Click on "Change Profile" in the side menu and select "Edit Questions" to check the email address you have listed on file with us. If you need to make a correction or to change it completely, please contact "webmaster@swappernet.com" to request the change.

How do I invite members to my approved party?
If you have submitted a party to Party Central and it has been approved, then you will want to start inviting members. From the moment your party gets approved, you will see a link in every profile you open that will allow you to invite that member to your party. If you have already invited them, the will link will change to a banner informing you of the status of your invitation - awaiting an answer, accepted or declined. If the user has you blocked, the banner will let you know that they do not wish to receive an invitation.

Everytime you invite a member to any of your parties, they are added to your permanent "Party Guest List", linked in the side menu. Use this page to find past invitees and invite them to your new party. This page will also let you know the invitation history of each of your guests, giving you a running count of unanswered, declined, and accepted invitations to help you decide whether you are wasting your time sending unanswered invitations to some users.

Please note that your party on Party Central is completely invisible to any member who has not received an invitation from you.
